April 13th

Welcome back!  I hope you all had a great week off with your families and friends.  It looks like our spring weather has finally arrived which will be terrific for outdoor recess time as school each day. :)

This week we will settle back into our kindergarten routines.  We will be very busy preparing for our Dinosaur Exhibit!  Our kindergarten exhibit will begin promptly at 2 pm this Thursday and will last approximately 30 minutes.  We will sing a song and then the children will show off their various dinosaur projects.   As you can imagine, they are very excited and proud of their work!

Throughout the week we will spend time working as readers, writers, and mathematicians.  Our weekly reading calendars will again be sent home.  Please be sure to spend time with books each night and have your child color in the reading calendar.  We will also begin to focus on lowercase letters a lot more during writing time...especially when writing our names.  Please encourage this skill at home too.  You can practice using markers, crayons, paint, white boards, play dough, shaving cream, sand writing...   There are many ways to play while writing :)

Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,
Eileen Browne

PS  "Paws/Pause for Reading" is a new idea at Eagle.  We are encouraging students and staff to take time to 'pause' and read each day.  We are creating a bulletin board filled with pictures of animals reading books! If you have a pet or a favorite stuffed animal, please take a picture of it reading.  We will add all pictures to our school's bulletin board in the front entrance area. :)
